Pickled Dilled Beans (Rombauer’s and Variations)

Pack lengthwise in hot sterile jars:  2 lb stemmed green beans

Add:  1/2 tsp cayenne or 1 T mustard seed or both, 1 clove garlic, 1 head dill (or 1 1/2 T dill seed)

Boil:  2 1/2 c water, 2 1/2 c vinegar, 1/4 c salt

Cucumbers can be used instead of beans.

Pour mixture over beans.  Seal and process.
